Green Collar interns work on specific client projects getting hands-on experience that can not be duplicated anywhere. We work and learn together in an environmentally-conscious and digitally-focused ethic. We create value using the web as a tool and a platform to become and teach others to become self-sustaining in Hawai`i.
Goals of the Program
- Help students learn their personal strengths and be productive in a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Teach students how to provide value to clients through digital media services.
- Empower students in Hawai`i through digital tools and techniques to increase their value to the Local, National and International business communities.
Accepted applicants will receive experience and training in several key areas;
- Digital design and arts
- Digital video for the web
- Website architectures and backend tools
- Interactive content creation work-flows
- Information, interaction and presentation design methodologies
- Web development, design and management
- Web marketing including the latest Web 2.0 tools and techniques
- Website administration, maintenance and project management

- Mentor and provide leadership in a safe, clean environment
- Teach and insure educational goals are continually achieved
- Report progress to parents and guardians of students
- Deliver, manage and report on the progress of student projects for clients

- Provide a path to professional web certification
- Accelerate the opportunities for our most inspired students through employment assistance
- Increase the amount of qualified individuals working on the web on the Big Island
Expectations of Interns
- Schedules are flexible but interns must show up on time when required.
- Intern hours are determined once approval into the program is granted.
- Interns are expected to dedicate between 10 and 20 hours per week.
- Interns are expected to spend 50% of their time working on client projects and 50% on goal-based learning objectives.
Location
Green Collar Internships are offered at our off-the-grid, camp-like setting in Mountain View, Hawai`i with classes held at our classroom at the Hawai`i Innovation Center at Hilo. The internship program is designed to provide students of all ages with an opportunity to learn about Web 2.0 and the social digital-media revolution in the context of improving our environment on Hawai`i Island.

All required documentation must be completed and postmarked at least one month before the program start date. All accepted interns are required to have a parent or guardian complete and sign a Release, Waiver of Liability and Indemnity Agreement. All applications must include the following:
- Completed application form
- Two letters of recommendation from educators (if undergraduate or recent grad)
- Two letters of recommendation from a local business professional
The Selection and Clearance Process
- All applications are reviewed for completeness and accuracy.
- Eligibility criterion are reviewed.
- Complete applications are then forwarded to Green Collar Technologies staff for review.
Accepted Applicants are sent notification via email no later than 30 days after application and all required materials have been received.
Eligibility :
The application process is open to anyone. Inspired, socially conscious and technically conscience, humans and students in need of help are welcome to apply. Anyone interested in learning how to be sustainable using the web as a platform for future development are welcome to apply.
General Information :
Interns are expected to work between 10 and 20 hours a week during an 8 to 12 week internship period. Internships are offered during the Summer, Winter and Spring semesters. Interns may receive academic credit if an agreement is made between Green Collar Technologies and the intern’s College or University.

Fall-Winter Internship (October 1st through December 10th) Applications accepted September 1st - September 15th (approved or denied by September 21st)
Winter-Spring Internship (January 25th through April 30th) Applications accepted January 1st - January 11th (approved or denied by January 18th)
Spring-Summer Internship (May 1st through June 30th) Applications accepted April 1st - April 15th (approved or denied by April 21st)
