Education for Green Collar Workers in Hawai‘i

Our Focus

Our central focus is organizing resources for green collar workers.

  • Educational Resources – we create, organize and deliver programs that educate green collar workers. We help identify needed skills, develop training programs and partnerships, and train workers for new careers in green-collar jobs. These programs include resources on many levels, including but not limited to:
    • Internships – we’ve created, organized and are delivering an intern program.
    • Exams and Certifications – we deliver certification exams through industry partnerships in several specialties.
    • Hawai`i Workforce re-training – we provide skills training for a greener workforce.

We also support:

  • Hawaii Island Sustainable Business Directory – research with the goal of identifying and creating a directory of all the sustainability projects and businesses on Hawai`i Island. See also GreenCollar.TV
  • Conferences and Events – we provide a community calendar of “green” events. The calendar is open to public submissions relevant to Hawai`i Island.
  • Development and Strengthening of Hawai`i’s digital economies – we provide skills to digital workers to raise their levels of competition in a global online environment. One of our goals is to help Hawai`i Island businesses convert paper-based processes into digital / paperless processes. We support and encourage virtual communication, organization, and management technologies. One of the most empowering tools that we deliver to businesses is control of and establishment of a strong online presence. This can be a re-branding or accurate representation of their current brick and mortar organization. We can help nearly any organization utilize Web 2.0 technology to harness the chaotic nature of the Internet.
    • Conservation through sustainable tourism – Our Sustainable Web Community is host to several eco-tourism focused websites and businesses. We also support educational programs that produce educational adventures such as Hawaiian EDventure.
    • Reducing Hawai`i’s dependency on grey tourism – we provide educational resources to help “tourism-reliant” businesses become sustainable using the web. We also consult with our clients in ways to help their clients conserve our resources while visiting the islands.
