Water is Life.On Hawaii Island we spend nearly ten million dollars per year on diesel fuel to pump water from the ground into our water grid. We have tied the price of our water to the price of fossil fuels. Bottled water is already more expensive than gasoline.Desert societies have survived for thousands of years using rainwater harvesting to collect their water. You can too. Take this class to learn how. HELCO and the County of Hawaii both suggest keeping your own water supply on hand in case of emergency. Why wait for an emergency? Owning your own water supply easy and affordable to get started. We offer an introductory class in Rainwater Harvesting to help you become aware of our water supply needs. We will help you better understand the requirements for getting started and the best approaches for your climate and budget. Who Should Attend
Class Agenda
All Instruction is provided in a no-nonsense format allowing everyone in the class to choose appropriate tools and technologies in their lives. All the concepts introduced will be explained in a useful manner. Real-world implementations, total cost of ownership and “gotchas” will all be explained in an effort to save you time and money. It’s nice to learn things on your own, but it’s also really nice to get a helping hand once in a while. This is that helping hand. Important! We deeply appreciate your involvement in Hawaii Island Sustainability efforts. |
