Held March 20th, 3pm-9pm Saturday night at the Palace Theater in Hilo, Hawaii

The evening was one of the best educational opportunities of the year. From food, water safety, energy and health to invasive species, green business, alternative building, public advocacy and civil defense this evening provided folks with what we needed to know about our island’s sustainability projects and practices.

2010 Sustainability Forum Presentations (Last Year)

  • Sustainable Health Care – Dane Silva shares the most important aspects of holistic healthcare.
  • Local Food Markets / GMO – Russell Ruderman from Island Naturals will provide an update on local food markets.
  • Water in the Hawaiian Landscape - Brad Kurokawa, shares critical permaculture practices related to Wai.
  • Ecosystem Health, Human Well Being and Invasive Species – Jan Schipper from Big Island Invasive Species Council.
  • State of Green Business – Michael Kramer from Natural Investments will update us on the state of green business.
  • Green Building Earth Bag Homes – Mark Hanson, will introduce Earth Bag Homes and a possible solution to affordable housing and sustainable communities via The Sarah Dome Project.
  • Developing Models of Sustainability – Allen Reid shares methods to connect and educate each other.
  • Sustainable Farming and Business Practices - Nimr Tamini from KIAA shares sustainable farming and business practices.
