When we use the term “Green Events” we are referring to events that meet the following guidelines:

The so-called, “green event” has a focus on a practice, technology or cause that is environmentally friendly

The so-called, “green event” does not harm the environment or negatively impact the environment where the event takes place. A “Green Event” does not cause undue stress on the local ecology.

A “Green Event” is promoted using digital technologies whenever possible. Creating awareness of the event online is the primary method for bringing about awareness of the event. When flyers are used to communicate the event, the flyers are cleaned up, taken down and recycled when possible.

A “Green Event” uses sustainable products when possible.

Why are we doing this?
We are in the process of defining all of the Green Terms we use on this site to help educate our visitors and prevent any misconceptions of greenwashing on our part. Although being green or treating the environment with respect is nothing new, many of the technologies need both awareness and understanding. We are attempting to help bring about that awareness and understanding in the context of Hawai`i Island.
