Zach Mermel is a permaculture designer, educator and consultant who has been actively involved in the sustainability movement for more than half a decade. Zach blends his academic training in Environmental Science with a hands-on education in permaculture design to create beneficial relationships between people and place. During his final two years at Humboldt State University, Zach served as a director of HSU’s renowned Campus Center for Appropriate Technology (CCAT), and oversaw compost operations for the entire Humboldt State campus.
Born and raised on the Big Island, Zach has a contagious passion for enhancing sustainable living practices at the household, community and island level.
